606 Fatherland Street The earliest history of this Edgefield gem is unknown, but it's obvious by its underlying Federal shape that it was here before all its neighbors. Mona Lisa and John Guider have recently recreated the porch, most likely added in the 1880s or so. The Edgefield Fire photograph and the original foundation still present in the dirt provided clues for this precise recreation. The early origins of the house are visible in the simpler interior, with its graceful mantels and stairway and four-panel doors. Since John is a nationally recognized and innovative photographic artist, this home is the perfect backdrop for displaying his work. Historical details are seamlessly fused with contemporary spaces.Metropolitan Historical Commission Award Winner |
