The home of Deb and Wayne Goodwyn, this Dutch Renaissance masterpiece, was built by the widow Cynthia McFerrin in the late 1880's. Nice digs for a widow lady, you're thinking-- Well, Cynthia was not just any widow. She was the granddaughter of the founding McGavocks. Her late husband wasn't just a "preacher", he was a prominent minister and leading founder of the Methodist Publishing House. Besides it was just around the corner from the old Tulip Street Church. Fanciful terra cotta, patterned brick, elaborate stonework and sawn work porch ornament add layer upon layer to this city home. Along the way, it survived 2 tornados and a few flames. Now, this two and a half story city home is filled with the special touches that Deb and Wayne have added to the original interior, including the front and back stairways. And speaking of stairs, venture up to the "attic" and experience Edgefield's view of the Nashville skyline!
